The Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization (IREO)

was established to promote the urgent transition to sustainable development and renewable energy sources. In support of the United Nations, IREO is building long-term partnerships with key public and private stakeholders on projects that improve peoples’ lives, protect the environment, and preserve our planet’s resources for future generations.
The SDC's primary mission is to foster sustainability through community planning, real estate development, building design, rainforest preservation and reforestation, and technology transfer to developing countries.
The EC's primary mission is to promote education and awareness of the need for sustainable development, renewable energy, and environmental preservation, along with the attitudinal and behavioral skill sets required to develop a new generation of environmentally aware leaders.

In the year 2000, the United Nations was looking for a way to go from spending the majority of its time reacting to existing problems…to preventing those problems from happening in the first place. The U.N. reasoned that, if we get a few important things right…our planet and its people will be much better off.
These important actions were articulated as the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Taken together, the U.N. Millennium Development Goals offer a prescriptive remedy for the future of the human race. Of these goals, Number Seven, “ensure environmental sustainability” has become the founding principle of the Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization (IREO).
For many, the word “government” connotes indifference and inaction. How can an “intergovernmental” organization possibly be any better? Precisely because we operate in the space between governments, private and public institutions. Today, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of countries, businesses, organizations, and individuals, all seeking a way to confront the dire challenges that we face. Individually, we, can only solve a small part of the problem. IREO exists to link these disparate entities together, providing a common lens through which they can align their activities, while reducing redundancy of effort and resource allocation. IREO comes with only one bias: do what’s right to protect the planet. Because of this non-parochial attitude, IREO is able to bridge gaps that separate nations, continents, and the public and private sectors…bringing the best solutions to bear in the widest possible swath of application.
