United Nations Association-Brazil

United Nations Association – Brazil is a grass root institution liked to the UN that aims to educate, inspire and mobilize the Brazilian civil society regarding the principles and values inscribed in the Charter of the United Nations. 

UNA-Brazil is also engaged with disseminating the institutional importance of the work developed by the UN through the implementation of projects, activities and partnerships in the local, national and international spheres.

Fórum das Américas

Fórum das Américas is an independent institution dedicated to the discussion of the main hemispheric issues, from human rights to democracy, from environment to free trade areas.

Founded in 1978, Fórum das Américas has already organized a number of events with highlights to “The United Nations and Society in the Threshold of a New Millennium”, in 1998, that counted with the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan as the main speaker and gathered the most important leaders of the Brazilian society. UNA-Brazil was established in this same occasion.

SDF 2008 Goals

* Create and strengthen the perception, especially from the business community, that no profit will be sustainable in the medium to long run if the economic activity it is based on is not environmentally sustainable;

* Mobilize political, academic and business leaders and promote international dialogue on sustainable development;

* Use a business language to present the various concepts, providing scientific analyses and realistic goals;

*Generate networking opportunity between part of the global business elite, furnishing them the knowledge to start businesses and partnerships that take the limitations of our planet into consideration;

*Achieve great international repercussion of this crucial subject and stimulate action by governments, enterprises and individuals;

*Fund-raise for future projects of the United Nations Association - Brazil.
